The sky is blue, temperatures are rising and flowers are beginning to peak out from their cover of dirt: spring has officially arrived. After a long, cold winter, you may find that it’s hard to stay inside now that the seasons have changed. But just because you’re indoors doesn’t mean that you have to leave the best of spring behind. With a little bit of work, you can bring a some touches of spring inside with these simple spring projects around your house:

Plant an indoor herb garden

One of the best parts of spring is all the new plant life that starts springing up outside. But you don’t need to limit this fresh growth to your yard. An indoor herb garden is a perfect way to bring some spring growth indoors – and keep it there year-round.

All you need are a few small pots, some potting soil and seeds for your favorite herbs. Set up your indoor garden somewhere that it can receive appropriate natural light, or invest in fluorescent lights if you don’t have room on or near a window sill. According to HGTV, herbs that are easy to grow inside include chives, mint, parsley, basil, cilantro, thyme, oregano, rosemary and sage.

While herbs serve the dual purpose of brightening your home while seasoning your food, they aren’t the only option for bringing plant life indoors. Any type of potted plant can breathe fresh life into your rooms, whether it’s a bright flower or a spikey succulent. If you don’t have a green thumb, consider investing in realistic-looking faux plants to save yourself the hassle to trying to keep real ones alive.

Decorate with natural colours and textures

If you enjoy the tranquil tones of nature, bring the outdoors inside by decorating with similar colour schemes. Light beige and neutral tones will give the room a spacious, airy feel, and sticking with shades that are all in the same family will further that theme. Better Homes & Gardens recommended setting off your more neutral tones with a pop of colour to create greater contrast in your decor. Something in the blue or green families will mimic the peaceful ambiance of nature.

Opt for natural motifs in your decorating.

You can also opt for natural motifs, like patterns of leaves, flowers or even fruit, in your decorating. Consider a brightly-coloured, floral throw pillow or drapes with a small leaf print.

If you want to make a more permanent change to your home, consider putting in wood – or faux wood – flooring. These tones on your floor will add a more natural feel to the room and play well with the neutral colour scheme of your walls and furniture.

Install a rain shower head

When they said April showers bring May flowers they probably were talking about the weather. But you can have your very own spring storm in your bathroom with a rain shower head. These bathroom essentials are typically large, flat and square-shaped, and spread out the water coming out of the wall, creating less pressure. The result in a rain-like feeling that mimics a gentle, warm weather storm.

To look at options for your own shower, visit a Wolseley Vague & Vogue showroom to view a selection of rain shower heads and other bathroom essentials. A sales associate will be happy to help you find the perfect option to bring a little bit of spring relaxation into your home.
